If you don’t know about Ottomobile, it’s time for you to learn of their existence! Ottomobile is a French maker of diecast cars. They (almost) only make 1/18th scale, but sometime venture into 1/12th scale. The cars they make have no oppening doors (unless they changed that), but they’re always high quality, and done in a limited run. Also, they only make the most Jalop’ stuff when it comes to models. You can fin them at !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . And they release new models each months. Signing in to the club gives you early access to new models.

Oooooo this is testing the lengths of my diecast budget. I shared this to Kinja/Oppo’s diecast blog, Live and Let Diecast! Kinja is being a bitch so I can’t post a link.

I figured someone would :) (I even tagged LALD in the post ^^)

But yeah, I never bought anything from Otto because I discovered them when I was moving around for school so, not the most convenient thing. Still, for the quality they apparently provide, the models are not that expensive! (Last diecast I bought was maybe 4 years ago, AutoArt mustang I think in 1/18th. Bought a couple 1/43rd thin then though).

Otto’s models don’t have opening features because they’re resin cast. While there are some resin models with working features, it’s typically not done as the resin material doesn’t have the necessary strength for them.

An advantage of resin is that the molds don’t need to be as durable as those for diecast. This keeps the costs down and allows for models to be produced in lower volumes than you would see in diecast.

Holy cows, they have 1/18 models of the E39 M5 and the Renault Espace F1!

Resin allows for super high detail, which is why ottos are great. Pricey, bit great!

As seen at Joliet LeMons 24. Who wants to guess what it’s based off of?
